For one night only experience the moral decay of the Roman Empire! Shadowed by the murder of his family, Caligula becomes Rome’s third emperor and spirals into madness and depravity, his reign lasting less than 4 years.
Caligula: The Ultimate Cut is a re-edit of the controversial 1979 film “Caligula,” aiming to restore the original vision of its creators by using previously unreleased footage. The notorious epic, the most expensive independent film at the time, began production in 1975 and was plagued with problems. Director Tinto Brass was forced out, the composer and editor had their names removed from the credits, and the actors were shocked to discover producer Bob Guccione had abandoned Gore Vidal’s script and turned the film into pornography. This new film, cut from over 96 hours of the original camera negatives, is as close to the working script as possible.
Starring Malcom McDowell, Peter O’Toole, and Helen Mirren. Runtime is 178 minutes.
