ABC

Martin Fry / ABC “ABC’s Martin Fry is a revelation, a soul man supreme, belting out pristine Vegas glitter pop and uptown House in his electric blue lounge suit. An ageless performer, Fry is the missing link between Bryan Ferry and Jarvis Cocker. For the inevitable encore of ‘The Look of Love’ he returns dipped in sparkly gold lame, a self-ironising pop genius on top form.” Stephen Dalton NME  ABC has enjoyed a glittering career to date. Very definitely one of a number of groups who came along and kick- started the Eighties with their own brand of pop for a ‘new decade’. On it’s release in May 1982, their debut album ‘The Lexicon of Love’ crashed straight into the UK album charts at number one. Showcasing the hits songs ‘Tears Are Not Enough’, ‘Poison Arrow’, ‘The Look Of Love’ and ‘All Of My Heart’. A ground-breaking collection of modern love songs. With a majestic production from the legendary Trevor Horn it remains a classic to this day. Voted by many as the best British album of the decade. ABC’s second album ‘Beauty Stab’ was a very different proposition to the polished beauty of ‘The Lexicon of Love’ and spawned the hits ‘That Was Then But This Is Now’ and ‘SOS’. It developed a much rawer, hard-edged sound. These were protest songs from a band that was constantly evolving. Next came the 1984 album ‘How To Be A Zillionaire’. ABC again conquered American audiences with a series of devastating club mixes and pre Gorillaz animated cartoons. ‘How To Be A Millionaire’, ‘Be Near Me’, alongside ‘Vanity Kills’ and ‘Ocean Blue’ were all Billboard dance chart number ones. The emphasis here was unashamedly electronic. 1987 saw the release of their fourth album ‘Alphabet City’. By the summer the worldwide hit ‘When Smokey Sings’ had powered its way toward the top of the American charts. Representing a return to luxuriant soul, alongside the songs ‘The Night You Murdered Love’ and ‘King Without A Crown’ the album captured the cosmopolitan feel of the moment and is both urban and chic. Heavy MTV rotation and an appearance on legendary show Soul Train cemented even greater success in the U.S.A for the band. Inspired by the burgeoning House music scene ‘Up ‘the fifth ABC album reflected the euphoric and uplifting spirit of the times. ‘One Better World ’an idealistic and Ibiza influenced anthem champions the radical changes that were taking place in music in London, Manchester, Chicago and Detroit in 1988. In 1991 ABC began work on an ambitious soul pop extravaganza ‘Abracadabra’. Releasing ‘Love Conquers All’ and the Black Box mixed ‘Say It’ the following year. The nineties saw the release of ‘The Lexicon of Love ‘No prizes for guessing that it is a live album that showcases ABC on stage. A band that could deliver in the recording studio could clearly do the same in front of an audience. ‘Skyscraping’ in 1997 represented a tour de force of gilt edged ABC. ‘Stranger things’ and ‘Only The Best Will Do’ embrace Glam inspired rock and roll. Martin has since repeated this formula with the ABC band and Anne Dudley, performing shows with the 40 piece Southbank Sinfonia across the UK. The last five years have seen ABC complete five successful American Tours, 4 sell-out UK Orchestra Tours, the sell- out Steel City Arena Tour with The Human League and Heaven 17, and a string of Country House Shows here in the UK. Two high lights being appearances at The Isle Of Wight Festival Camp and in 2016 playing BBC Proms In The Park in Hyde Park.

Cordovas with Special Guests: Trial by Fire

Tennessee-based band Cordovas have announced plans for their new album Destiny Hotel, which follows the group’s 2018 ATO Records debut, That Santa Fe Channel. Set for release via ATO on October 16th, the album’s easygoing lead single “High Feeling” is out now. Infused with the same sun-kissed energy that powers the Allman Brothers Band’s “Blue Sky,” “High Feeling” is as unhurried and amiable as it gets, featuring perky splashes of piano and bright Hammond B3 organ. “You give me that high kind of feeling/I don’t want to come down,” sings vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Joe Firstman, backed by his mates Sevans Henderson, Lucca Soria, and Toby Weaver. “We just wanted to write something true and easy,” Firstman says of writing and arranging the song. “That was the vibe from the very beginning.” Black Pumas’ Adrian Quesada provided additional production, guitar, and mixing work on “High Feeling,” while Black Pumas’ touring members Angela Miller and Lauren Cervantes add some heavenly backing vocals to the mix.     Recorded in Los Angeles with producer Rick Parker, Destiny Hotel was largely composed and shaped while the band stayed for an extended period in Todos Santos, Mexico. The recording was completed in seven days, just before stay-at-home orders came down everywhere. “A community made this album. Friends believed in us, family encouraged us and kept us alive, the music guided us,” Firstman says. “We wrote 50 some-odd songs for this record, and a lot of the ones that made it on the album were some of the last written. We needed to make sure these were songs we’d be proud to sing forever.”

The rock anthem, first recorded by traffic and then covered by dozens of other artists (including Joe Cocker), cemented both Dave’s and Traffic’s legacy, and had a profound influence over rock music that continues today. Mason left Traffic in 1969 to pursue a solo career in the U.S. Dave has penned over one hundred songs, has three gold albums: “Alone Together,” “Dave Mason,” “Mariposa De Oro,” and platinum album “Let It Flow,” which contained the top-ten single “We Just Disagree”.In addition to cranking out hits, Dave has performed on, or contributed to, a number of famous albums, including: The Rolling Stones’ “Beggars Banquet,” George Harrison’s “All Things Must Pass,” Paul McCartney and Wings‘ “Venus and Mars,” and Jimi Hendrix’s “Electric Ladyland.”Mason is featured playing acoustic guitar in “All Along the Watchtower” on Electric Ladyland, a favorite in Dave’s live shows! Brett Dennen – So Much More Summer Tour – with Special Guest – Katy Robinson

Brett Dennen is telling us to get out and see the world at a time when we need it more than ever. Flame-haired, six-foot-five, and with a singular gift for meditating on life’s most meaningful subjects with equal parts innocence and razor sharp wit, you know Dennen from his decade-plus career as a singer/songwriter. With a successful string of albums and four Top Ten AAA singles like “Make You Crazy,” “Wild Child,” and 2018’s “Already Gone,” which achieved his highest chart position yet, Dennen has cemented himself as a fixture in American folk music. What you may not know about Brett is that he did not set out to be a professional musician. It is a surprising revelation for someone who embodies the best of songwriting: singular storytelling, singability, and the unique capacity to hold up a mirror to our lives, our society, and the greater world. In recent years, Brett Dennen has started to let the world in on his secrets. In 2017, he created the “Lift Series” and “Vacationer Series,” two annual tours wherein he combines shows in ski and beach towns with conservation initiatives and education in each locale.Dennen’s latest release, See The World, was released July 23rd, 2021 on Mick Music. Like the man, himself, the new album is a potpourri of experiences and sometimes seeming contradictions. In the album opener and title track, Dennen sings of “diamond beaches” and “prism streams,” and reminds us that “You don’t have to be rich to get around / There are mansions growing out of the ground.” In the refrain, he urges “Days go by / Get out and see the world with your own eyes.” In “Paul Newman Daytona Rolex,” we dive into Dennen’s signature witticisms. Over an insistent, light-hearted groove, he opens the song, “I never been accused of being fancy / I’m not stupid with my money honey, I could be stupid for free.” The song is ostensibly a love letter to a rare watch, one which Dennen does not, in fact, own. Really it is an irresistible, irreverent meditation on what we value as human beings. As Dennen puts it, “the things you can’t put a price on should be the things you value the most… to me it’s all about self worth and peace of mind.” Brett Dennen doesn’t take his time on his beloved earth for granted. He is intent on exploring the world and exploring himself in the process. Hence, See The World. The album also happens to come at what we hope will be a turning point for all of us – where we all hope to be doing just what Brett wants for us – seeing the world. Quite tangible in the title track and the album as a whole is Dennen’s newest and greatest pursuit – that of father to his young son, Van, for whom this song was written. But it is also easy to imagine him writing it for all of us, gently encouraging us to pick up the paint brush, jump in the ocean, and climb whatever mountain lies in front of us. Peppered in equal parts with shrewd quips and vulnerable admissions, the album is ultimately an exploration of life’s deepest meaning. See The World is, in short, reflective of a life well-explored, a life well-pursued, and, we can hope, a life well-lived.The fall of 2021 marked the 15th anniversary of Brett’s beloved sophomore album, So Much More. Coming off the heels of his 7th studio album, See The World, and the top 5 AAA hit of the same name, Brett will be celebrating the anniversary of So Much More on his summer tour, along with a deluxe anniversary edition release of So Much Moreon vinyl.COVIDFan Entry Covid Policy:Entry requirements are subject to change. Hayes Carll

The country simplicity that imbues Hayes Carll’s songs can sometimes hide the social conscience and sharp humor that also runs through them, but if you want to find those things, they are there. In fact, Carll has spent over 20 years having a conversation about what it is we’re all doing here with anyone who will listen. He makes us laugh––but then he makes us cry. We judge a song’s protagonist, only for Carll to spin us around to commiserate with them.
