Eric Gales & Special Guest: Artur Menezes

Eric Gales is a blues firebrand. Over 30 years and 18 albums, his passion for the music and his boundless desire to keep it vital has never waned, even when his own light dimmed due to his substance struggles. Throughout it all, he continued to reinvigorate the art form with personal revelation in his lyrics and bold stylistic twists in his guitar playing and songwriting. Five years sober, creatively rejuvenated, and sagely insightful, Eric is ready for the fight of his career. Aptly, he calls his masterful new album, out January 2022 on Provogue/Mascot label Group, Crown. Here, Eric opens like never before, sharing his struggles with substance abuse, his hopes about a new era of sobriety and unbridled creativity, and his personal reflections on racism. The songs are delivered with clarity and feature Eric’s personal experiences and hope for positive change. In addition, the 16-track collection boasts his finest singing, songwriting, and his signature guitar playing that burns throughout. Produced by Joe Bonamassa and Josh Smith, this is Eric at his most boldly vulnerable, uncompromisingly political, and unflinchingly confident.

King, Willie Nelson, Bonnie Raitt and scores of others, and have earned him a place in the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, a BMI Troubadour award, and a lifetime achievement in songwriting designation from the Americana Music Association.Clarence Bucaro to open. “Penetrative & excitingly melodic … Intimate literate lyrics & velvet vocals.” – Rolling Stone On May 18, 2018, Clarence Bucaro releases his powerful new studio album, Passionate Kind, on indie 2020 Records. Compelling and honest, the record gives a glimpse into Bucaro’s inner self. The artist grips the listener with profound emotion and bares his soul telling sonic stories from raw personal experience. Rolling Stone said of the album; “Buoyant, sometimes playful folk songwriting with a deep well of social consciousness,” and named him one of “10 Artists to Watch.” Clarence originally hails from outside Cleveland, Ohio. When he was just twenty years old, he thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail. On this hike, carrying a Martin backpacker, he wrote his entire first album “Sweet Corn,” which caught the attention of an Americana record label in Portland, Oregon. Soon Clarence found himself on tour with The Blind Boys of Alabama and Mavis Staples playing to sold out theaters across America. Fast forward fifteen years, eleven albums and hundreds of shows later, Bucaro continues to transport listeners with his thoughtful lyrics and carefully crafted melodies. Since then, he has lived in New York, Los Angeles, New Orleans and Nashville building his career. He has shared the stage with greats such as Rodney Crowell, Aaron Neville, Tony Joe White, Los Lobos, Richard Thompson and Marc Cohn. His latest, Passionate Kind recorded at The Loft in Chicago co-produced by Tom Schick (Wilco, Ryan Adams) features sensational artists Chris Farney (Josh Radin) on drums, Scott Ligon (NRBQ, Mavis Staples) on piano and bass and Doug Pettibone (Marianne Faithful, Lucinda Williams) on guitar.
An Evening with Shawn Colvin & KT Tunstall – On Stage Together

Shawn Colvin Shawn Colvin stopped the industry in its tracks with her arresting 1989 debut, Steady On. The following spring, Colvin took home the GRAMMY Award for Best Contemporary Folk Album, establishing herself as a mainstay in the singer-songwriter genre. In the ensuing 30 years, Colvin has won three GRAMMY Awards, released thirteen superlative albums, written a critically acclaimed memoir, maintained a non-stop national and international touring schedule, appeared on countless television and radio programs, had her songs featured in major motion pictures and created a remarkable canon of work. Colvin triumphed at the 1998 GRAMMY Awards, winning both Record and Song of the Year for the Top 10 hit “Sunny Came Home,” from the platinum-selling album A Few Small Repairs. Her inspiring and candid memoir, Diamond In The Rough, was published in by Harper Collins in 2012. Diamond In The Roughlooks back over Colvin’s rich lifetime of highs and lows with stunning insight and candor. Through its pages we witness the story of a woman honing her artistry, finding her voice, and making herself whole. Shawn Colvin was recognized for her career accomplishments when she was honored with the 2016 Lifetime Achievement Trailblazer Award by the Americana Music Association. Presenting her with this prestigious award was Bonnie Raitt. KT Tunstall: KT Tunstall made her mark on the music scene in 2004 with her multi-platinum debut album, “Eye to the Telescope.” The album featured global hits like “Black Horse and the Cherry Tree” and “Suddenly I See,” establishing Tunstall as a captivating performer and a songwriter skilled in balancing introspective folk and energetic rock. Tunstall describes her style as a combination of troubadour, acoustic guitar-driven emotion, and a rocker side with sharper edges. In recent years, the Grammy-nominated Scottish musician has explored a trilogy of records, each focusing on a specific concept: soul, body, and mind. “KIN” (2016) represented the soul, “WAX” (2018) embodied the body, and the latest release, “NUT,” explores the mind. Produced by Martin Terefe, who co-wrote her 2005 hit “Other Side of the World,” “NUT” draws inspiration from Tunstall’s love of percussive West African grooves, using them as a metaphor for the learning patterns of the mind. The album is eclectic, seamlessly blending different musical styles. The song “Canyons,” driven by a grimy, heavy rock riff, explores the canyon-like physiology of the brain. Throughout “NUT,” lyrics and sound delve into Tunstall’s personal evolution and the universal theme of how we all evolve through repeated behaviors and reactions to life experiences.
