AL STEWART: THE FAREWELL TOUR
The Legendary Singer-Songwriter Brings His Farewell to The Kent Stage — Saturday October 10, 2027 – with His Band The Empty Pockets! When Al Stewart wrapped the first legs of his 80th Birthday Farewell Tour in the fall of 2025 — sold-out nights up the American East Coast, then Amsterdam, a triumphant run across the United Kingdom capped by the London Palladium, and closing nights in Glasgow, Belfast, and Dublin — the goodbyes weren’t finished. This spring, the Farewell Tour of The States starts back up. This time on the West Coast and rolls into Kent in the fall. Al and his longtime band The Empty Pockets will be joined by contemporary jazz saxophonist Chase Huna, whose sax and flute work has become a signature of Al’s live shows.
Audiences can expect the songs that defined him — “Year of the Cat,” “Time Passages,” “On the Border,” “Modern Times” — alongside selections from a catalog that stretches from the British folk clubs of the 1960s to the present. Stewart came up in the legendary London folk scene, where he shared a flat with a young Paul Simon, played the very first Glastonbury Festival in 1970, and went on to record the Platinum albums Year of the Cat (1976) and Time Passages (1978), fusing folk-rock with vivid storytelling drawn from history. In Al’s own words: “I’m just a folk singer that is interested in history and wine that got lucky with some hit records! It’s as simple as that really.”
